Talking ‘Bout My Generation: December 2020 podcast playlist

What does it mean to be part of a “generation?” It defines us by age, era, experience, and values. And the generational divide can feel all too real with one generation blaming another for the impending downfall of society. Yet many of our loved ones do not belong to the same generation as we do and we often have to navigate tricky terrain when it comes to mutual understanding. This month’s playlist highlights generational stories and intergenerational conversations as a way to examine this cultural phenomenon.

Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People host, Chris Gethard

A discussion with Chris Gethard, the creator behind Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People, or Beautiful/Anonymous for short. The premise of the podcast is this: 1 phone call. 1 hour. No names. No holds barred. Every week, Chris opens the phone line to one anonymous caller, and he can’t hang up first, no matter what. And the result is truly the name of the podcast: beautiful stories from anonymous people!

#TransAwarenessWeek: Bonus podcast playlist

Trans Awareness Week (TAW) is November 13-19. During the week, people and organizations raise the visibility of transgender people and address issues members of the community face. TAW always precedes Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), which is on November 20. TDOR honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence that year. This playlist offers an opportunity to hear about the wide range of experiences transgender people have.

Navigating Uncertainty: October 2020 listening list

There is no question that we are living in uncertain times. We do not know when the global coronavirus pandemic will end. Around the world, countries are facing important elections, social justice protest movements, refugee crises, and much more. Trying to go through the motions of normal daily life and understand one’s role in creating the world we want to live in can be confounding and exhausting. The episodes this month all discuss different types of uncertainty and ways to navigate it. Hopefully we can all find something helpful to take away about how to navigate these challenging and often dark days.
