Friendship: January 2021 podcast playlist

Research shows that maintaining friendships is a key to happiness. People who are more connected report greater levels of life satisfaction. However, it seems that we prioritize romantic relationships while relegating platonic ones to the backseat. We’ve heard over and over again that loneliness is an epidemic, but making new friends as an adult can be challenging. This playlist explores the importance of friendships with a focus on practical tips and stories about specific types of friendships.

Talking ‘Bout My Generation: December 2020 podcast playlist

What does it mean to be part of a “generation?” It defines us by age, era, experience, and values. And the generational divide can feel all too real with one generation blaming another for the impending downfall of society. Yet many of our loved ones do not belong to the same generation as we do and we often have to navigate tricky terrain when it comes to mutual understanding. This month’s playlist highlights generational stories and intergenerational conversations as a way to examine this cultural phenomenon.

There is no question that we are living in uncertain times. We do not know when the global coronavirus pandemic will end. Around the world, countries are facing important elections, social justice protest movements, refugee crises, and much more. Trying to go through the motions of normal daily life and understand one’s role in creating the world we want to live in can be confounding and exhausting. The episodes this month all discuss different types of uncertainty and ways to navigate it. Hopefully we can all find something helpful to take away about how to navigate these challenging and often dark days.

And even when we are proponents of free speech in theory, the practical application of it can be quite tenuous and brutal. This month we’re listening to five episodes that dig into freedom of speech and provide examples of where the line gets a little fuzzy.

Apologies: August 2020 podcast listening list

Why is the word “sorry” so hard to say? Is it because when we use it, we’re admitting fault? Or weakness? Or that we’re (gasp) not perfect!?! Who ever said we were supposed to be perfect, anyway? This month we’re listening to episodes that explore the importance of apologizing, how to apologize, and we’ll even dig into a few very concrete examples of apologies.

We all know that health is important. But, often times we limit our perception of health to that of our physical body, rather than emotional health and well-being.
